You have the choice of playing something else if you disagree. My hope is that they've made the most players happy with their design choice of having an always online connection. It's simply not possible to make everyone happy at the same time. If the game was 100% online, here you are. If the game was 100% offline, there would be people here complaining that there is no always-online mode to battle the cheaters.

There's never going to be an online community that is ALL happy with a design choice. The server issues will subside, they always do. It isn't a reasonable expectation for me to berate them for not expanding servers based on money I haven't yet paid them. That means I'm counting on SE to float the costs. Is it me "settling" for a substandard result? I don't think so - the game isn't live yet, and I haven't bought it.
